Trail Maps

The Rock Island trail is one of three trails that run through the Peoria area. The Rock Island State Tail runs from Toulon to Alta. The Rock Island Greenway runs from Alta to downtown Peoria to the Bob Michael Bridge. The River Trail of Illinois starts Just across the Bob Michael bridge and runs to Morton.

Rock Island State Trail: This 26 mile section of the trail is crushed limestone.  The trail starts in Toulon and is mostly flat with open fields on both sides, passing through Princeville and Dunlap before finishing at Alta.  It becomes more shaded and busier between Dunlap and Alta.

Rock Island Greenway: The 13 mile middle section of the trail starts at Alta and runs to downtown Peoria on a paved trail.  You will go through a lighted tunnel under Route 6 and a bicycle bridge over Knoxville Ave.  The trail runs through nice neighborhoods with lots of things to stop and do.

River Trail of Illinois: This 9 mile paved section of the trail starts just West of the Bob Michael bridge and goes through East Peoria up the bluff eventually to Morton, where the trail ends.  The top right part of the map above would connect with the bottom right corner of the Rock Island Greenway map.
